Book Meme

Sun Oct 18, 2009, 7:49 AM
I stole it from ~seapolyp

I LOVE BOOKS :D

A LIT MEME FOR ALL THE BOOK NERDS:

. So, you can read! Congrats!
Are you reading a book right now? How far are you into it and what do you think so far? If you're not, what was the last book you read and how did you feel about it?

I'm reading 1984 and I love it. I'm about half way and it's brilliant.

. Do you have a favorite book? Do you have... a book you really liked, at least?

This is a hard choice.
(in no particular order)

1. The Fountainhead
2. Atlas Shrugged (anything by Ayn Rand)
3. Catcher in the Rye
4. 1984 :D
5. Harry Potter, of cause (<- reference to my Asian mom)
6. Fight Club and Invisible Monsters, just cause
7. When I was in middle school, Raven's Gate and that whole series and I kinda want to finish it now...
8. Angela's Ashes, read it for school, but I love it and me and my dad lol at the movie (which is perfect)

...and much more

. What would you say is your favorite genre to read? What do you tend to steer away from?

I avoid romance (especially teen)
I enjoy books and things where the main character dies, although that's not really a genre.

. Do you read more fiction or non-fiction/information books?

Fiction of cause

. How about a favorite author, or perhaps a few?

god, I dont know
Chuck Palahniuk, Ayn Rand, ughh I can't choose.

. Have you read any terrible books? Something you'd recommend staying away from?

Twilight.

. Do you reread books, or is once enough? Any exceptions so far?

Depends. I reread all the Harry Potter books, Catcher in the Rye, it really depends on my mood.

. What were some of your favorite books as a child?

Dr. Seuss, I liked where the wild things are, the smelly cheese...or something like that, the hungry catipillar one, and the shiny fish....I dont remember what it was called.

. Do you usually pick books from the kids, teen, young adult, or adult books? How old are you, if you don't mind?

Adult
most of the Young Adult books are just awful (<- what an ugly word)

. Do you buy books much or mostly just borrow?

Borrow. My parents think it's dumb to buy books.
The only books I buy are ones for school and Catcher in the Rye because I love that book.

And I plan on buying Atlas Shrugged, since I still have ~024N book
(my dad stole it and he loves it)

. Have you read any books after seeing them in movie form? Which did you enjoy more?

I know I did for one book, but I can't remember which one. I feel like it was Eragon...but Im positive I read it before the movie because I remember thinking that the movie was awful. NO, IT WAS ERAGON...maybe?

. What about reading the book before there was a movie? How did you feel about the movie? Did you even bother seeing it?

I plan on seeing where the wild things are today :D
The trailer is amazing.

I've also read the Harry Potter books :D
Angels and Demons
Fight Club (I read it and then realized there was a movie, which is amazing)

. Do you read any other forms of literature aside from novels? Such as graphic novels, comics, (fan fiction???) etc.?

Comics

. What is a book you want to read, but haven't yet? What intrigues you about it?

Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Boy A, Fahrenheit 451, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, pbly It's Kind of A Funny Story, and maybe Lost Symbol...but I havent read the Da Vinci Code...so I'll read that first, and Perfume

. If you could rewrite the end of one book (or any other part, I suppose), which would you choose? If you were satisfied with every book you read's end, yay.

epilogue to Deathly Hallows.

If you can think of one, name a book that made you:

- cry: Can't think of one...I cry for movies A LOT THOUGH

- laugh: a bunch and then people look at you weirdly

- think, in a deeper sense than the obvious: many, 1984, Ayn Rand's stuff, Catcher in the Rye

- feel pure happiness: Fight Club? lol
I read a lot of depressing books.

- become so addicted you put off everything in order to finish it: many :D

- die of boredom: Best American Science and Nature Writing 2008
it was actually interesting but I just didnt want to read it.

- learn something new: Best American Science and Nature Writing 2008...
I now know more about malaria then I would ever need

- squirm with squickiness: squickiness?

- squirm with glee: that's also kinda weird question

- very embarrassed to be reading it: Twilight, now

- angry: 1984, Angela's Ashes

I can only really remember the books I've read recently DX
